This past week, this KUB Fiber post only scratched the service.
As a reminder back in the Summer of 2021, when KUB and Knoxville City Council initially discussed KUB Fiber, Knox County Trustee Justin Biggs, then Knox County Commissioner at Large Seat 11 warned here about the lack of transparency and the public utility competition with effective private sector providers. Also at the March 21 meeting, in President Gabe Bolas report he recognized Mark Walker, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, to provide detail regarding upcoming proposed rate action items. The Board will have an April 18 financial session that will focus on the details of the Fiscal year 2025 budget and long range plan. Public comments will be welcome before the meeting adjourns.

KUB is building Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Stations. One in Downtown (Central Avenue) and one in Seymour (Food City parking lot) capturing the tourists en route to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg. Knoxville and TVA are helping to pay for them. Stations will be managed by third party contractor. The EV owners will swipe a card (debit and credit) and KUB will receive charging revenue.
