Early Voting begins today (July 12) for Federal & State of #TN Primaries along with Knox County & TownOfFarragut General Election. How about the money in the Knox County School Board Races!

The following Knox County School Board District Seats are up for election, Second, Third, Fifth and Eighth.

Second District Incumbent Independent Jennifer Owen, balance last report $1,152.89, received $2,305, spent $639.13 with $2,818.76 on hand. Contributions include former South Knox School Board Challenger Annabel Henley, former one term South Knox School Board Member Amber Rountree, former Second District Democrat County Commission candidate Courtney Piper, Third District Knox County Democrat School Board candidate Pat Fontnot-Ridley. (Fontenot-Ridley is not supporting the Knox County Democrat candidate Anne Templeton) A total of $1,888.78 on in-kind contributions from the incumbent, her husband and former North Knox County School Board candidate Dominique Oakley.

Independent Pat Polis, balance last report $6,085, received $2,050, spent $4,180.34 with $3,954.66 on hand. A $500 contribution from County Commissioner Larsen Jay and his spouse.

Democrat Anne Templeton, balance last report $9,062.49, received $3,840, spent $2,900.05 with balance on hand $10,002.44

Third District Daniel Watson the incumbent chose not to seek election.

The Republican Primary candidate that lost the Primary, filed a report with $7 balance last report, received zero, spent zero with $7 on hand.

Republican Angie Goethert, balance last report $1,340.02, received $3,150, spent $1,954.66 with $5,685.36 balance on hand. Contributions from Knox County Commissioner at Large Kim Frazier, Knox County School Board Member Susan Horn, Volunteer Republican Womens Club and a $2,000 contribution from the Knox County Republican Party. Expenditures include an ad on this blog for June through August 1.

Democrat Patricia Fontenot-Ridley balance last report $3,974.80, recieved $4,558.50, spent $1,177.57 with balance on hand $7,355.73 Contributions include Committee to Elect Debbie Hen, School Board Member Daniel Watson, City of Knoxville Councilwoman Seema Singh and Democrat Womens Club.

Fifth District (the seat I was elected to in 2000 and served from 9/1/2000-8/31/2004)

Republican Lauren Morgan balance last report $21,910.80, received $2,400, spent $2,936 with balance on hand of $21,374.80. Contributions include $2,000 from Knox County Republican Party. Expenditures include an ad on this blog for June 1 – August 1.

Democrat Terrye Whitaker balance last report $1,339.21, received $2,916, spent $1,473.78 with $2,781.43 on hand. In-kind Contributions $543.33 from the TN Democrat Party. Of 11 (eleven) contributors 3 (three) were from the fifth district, 1 (one) from out of state, 1 (one) from sixth district, 2 (two) from ninth district, 1 (one) Democrat Women address is located in the second district and 3 (three) from the fourth district, the same address that according to KGIS.org is the property of Fourth District Knox County School Board Member Katherine E Bike. Expenditures only 2 (two) were within the Fifth District, Fedex Printing 10205 Kingston Pike (west of the Pellissippi) and the US Postal Service in Farragut.

Eighth District – Due to the untimely death of former School Board Member Mike McMillan and no Democrat candidate for the Eighth District School Board seat, Republican Travis Wright after winning the Republican Primary was appointed by Knox County Commission to serve the remainder of the term. Republican Knox County School Board Member Travis Wright balance last report $4,206.57, received $1.08, spent $1,257.20 with $2,950.45 on hand. $100 loan outstanding.
