Every Town and Utility Wants to be in Broadband…. It is NOT Their Money

Sources tell me this week Harriman City Council voted to float a YUGE $26 million dollar bond. They want the HUB Harriman Utility Board to get in the broadband business. HUB currently provides electric, gas, water and sewer and now broadband which they will borrow the money from electric.

The meeting from this week is not available yet. However, here is the July 2, 2024 meeting, Candace Vannasdale, the GM (General Manager) of HUB discusses briefly the possible launch into broadband.

Interestingly enough I am told that Mayor Wayne Best is an employee of HUB and Councilwoman Alicia Harris is Vice Chair of the HUB Board and a Harriman Councilwoman.

Every little town and utility wants broadband, the revenue and the debt that goes with it.
