Just now (Saturday October 5, 2024) took the ad down for the Knox County Republican Party‘s October 3, 2024 Get Out the Vote Rally. The party did not pay for an ad, as one of the Rally Organizing Committee members it was my (Brian Hornback) contribution.
As identified in an email by Treasurer Martin Ammons, I was pleased to be asked to be one of the committee members helping to organize the rally (although I explained to several folks that my wife and I would likely be at the Brantley Gilbert, Adam Calhoun and Demun Jones concert at Knoxville Civic Coliseum) It was more anti Harris/Waltz/Biden than the Rally.
Those of us serving on the organizing committee (although none of us did it to be recognized) Chairman Buddy Burkhardt, Vice Chair Janis Crye, myself, Steve Hunley, John Marshall, Amy Burkhardt (Chairman’s wife), Jackie Raley and Ammons. The real heroes are the numerous donors and sponsors that contributed money, facilities and everything that happened at the FREE Rally.
It was an event that was no surprise to those of us that have been around more than twenty years in Knox County Republican Party politics. During 2005-2007 when myself and Irene McCrary (Rep. Michele Carringer‘s mom) were Chair and Vice-Chair we hosted multiple free events. A FREE grand opening at the HQ at 640 North building (free hotdog dinner donated by the Fountain City Republican Club, Donnie Ellis, President and Kim Isenberg Vice President of FC Club at the time) Several free lunches with then Senate Republican nominee Bob Corker at the Knoxville Expo Center. Corker won a three way Republican primary with Congressmen Ed Bryant and Van Hillary in 2006.
An event of/by/for ALL Republicans was a solid WIN of/by/for EVERYONE!
If someone personally resorts to calling names, demanding exclusion or exclusions of Republicans from activities, That is more about the ones that scream, demand and threaten than the ones they scream, demand and threaten about.
