United States Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee on Aftermath of Hurricane Helene

My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by Hurricane Helene. This storm truly was unprecedented, and I am inspired by the resolve of my fellow Tennessee Volunteers. I have been on the ground in East Tennessee surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Helene and assisting in relief efforts. Along with the rest of the Tennessee Congressional Delegation, I sent a letter to President Joe Biden demanding he quickly approve Governor Bill Lee‘s request for a major disaster declaration. To ensure that the proper federal resources are provided quickly, I, along with a bipartisan group of my Senate colleagues, wrote a letter urging Congress to return to work immediately to pass disaster relief legislation. There is no time to waste, and it is clear that Congress must act now to get Tennesseans, and the rest of the Southeast, the help they need. Chrissy and I will continue to pray for all of those impacted by Hurricane Helene. For those seeking resources from Hurricane Helene damage, please visit my website to see all available options.
