Friday afternoon, Knox County Schools had Carly Harrington send out a message to all families. Media (like myself) were sent a copy.
KCS families,
We have been closely monitoring the number of student and staff absences, and recent trends in flu cases reported by the Knox County Health Department. Due to the number of absences and flu trends reported this week, Knox County Schools will be closed on Monday, February 10, and Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Central Office will also be closed.
This will provide students and staff with time to recover from illnesses and will allow time for buildings to be thoroughly cleaned. Thank you for your understanding.
Carly Harrington
Executive Director of Public Affairs
Knox County Schools
While other school districts (around Knox) have been closed the last week. It really begs to question, did the district wait too long to squash the illness? Returning on Wednesday February 11 for a half day, really seems like a two and a half day break would be better. But what do I know?
