Last night at the Halls Republican Club, Rodney Lane stood up to proclaim that he was excited that Ruth Kulhman has asked him to be her First Vice Chair. The by laws state that the Chair and Vice Chair are to be of the opposite sex.
In the event Buddy Burkhardt or John Gabriel are elected Chair. The first Vice Chair must be a female. Former candidate for State Executive Committeewoman and longtime Knox Co. Republican Office volunteer Suzanne Dewar is rumored to be running for First Vice Chair.
Back to the Kuhlman/Lane connection, Kulhman’s daughter is an employee of the Property Assessors Office. lane is also an employee of the Property Assessors Office. Sources indicate that some Knox Co Republicans see this as an attempted power grab by the Property Assessors office. It will also be interesting to see the Foster Arnett effect in this. Lane was an employee of the County Clerk’s office and when Arnett took office, Lane was dismissed.
Both Arnett and the Property Assessor are rumored to be considering a challenge to Knox Co Mayor Tim Burchett in 2014. Is this the prelude rumble to the big fight.
It would seem that the County Clerk and Property Assessor, both having a big responsibilty with numbers and money, would understand that they will have a hard time in convincing potential supporters and donors that either one would stand a chance against an opponent who won more than 80 percent of the vote in the primary.
Are they being pushed by our less conservative Knox Countians in Sequoyah Hills and other more liberal bastions wanting to raise our property taxes in support of our unelected school leader?
Sounds like it.
The Shadow knows.
