The Knox County Commissioners appointed by Commission Chairman Tony Norman and the School Boarders appointed by School Board Chair Caren Karson had their first love in. Today at bout 5 p.m. they gathered in the Small Assembly Room. Sitting at the table with them was Metro Pulse Contributor Joe Sullivan.
Out in the cheap seats were Shopper Publisher Sandra Clark, Free lance Photographer Dan Andrews, KCEA President Sherry Morgan, Superintendent of Schools Dr. James P. McIntyre, Jr., Big Metal Shed Reporters Lydia X. McCoy, Mike “da career killa” Donila, myself and a TV Reporter.
Sitting at a table observing were David Buck and David Sanders of the Knox County Law Department, Mellissa Ogdon, Knox County Schools PR Master and Terri Coatney, the School Board Secretary. (Coatney was taking notes) Also, Russ Oaks, Chief of Staff to Dr. McIntyre was wandering around.
Basically all that got talked about in the 35-40 minutes love in is that Karson and McKenzie will get together and firm up an agenda for the next meeting. Potentially select a facilitator and meet for about 2 hours. Sheriff Jimmy J.J. Jones and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett‘s names were dropped, presumably it is anticipated that they (Sheriff and Mayor) are gonna be wanting a share of the Knox Counties taxpayers money. Shocking!
Here Commissioner Mike Hammond, Commissioner David Wright, School Boarder Gloria Deathridge, an empty seat for Commissioner Amy “No Show” Broyles, School Boarder Lynne Fugate and Commissioner Sam McKenzie. Not pictured School Boarder Karen Carson and School Boarder Doug Harris, who had a scheduling conflict and made it known that he was unable to show.
So who is going to represent the taxpayers at these meetings? We know Burchett is the only one who listens to us and cares.
I would but I would have a big bucket of cold water.
Commissioners need to pay attention:
BOE and McIntyre’s budget went down in flames last year.
Do you really want to hitch your wagon to those jackasses?
Voters will not forget.
Nor will we forgive.
I’d keep that in mind.
