Today, Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and a throng of elected officials and East Knox County citizens opened the NEW Carter Elementary School and tracked a bunch of dirt and mud into it.
Here is the view from Straw Plains Pike! Of course it ain’t East Knox County without some John Deere Green. I am from East Knox County, I can say that.
Shot one of the crowd, they are covered in case of rain, sleet, snow or sunshine.
Shot two of the crowd, they are covered as well.
Of course, you can’t have the keys till the check is signed. In previous Mayoral administrations the check was signed back at the office. I think BUrchett was thinking he could talk them down a couple thousand. Burchett told them he had talked to the Vol Market #3 and they could cash it.
Here they are tracking in the dirt, mud into the new gymnasium.
Of course, the whole thing couldn’t, wouldn’t happen without Mr. Carter Conley Underwood. The guy in the Carter green shirt. He rallied the community to School Board meetings, County Commission meetings and this thing came to be because of his tenacious never give up attitude. Of course as a true Carter guy, he stayed in the background while everyone else patted themselves on the back and clamored for the camera.
Hey, I didn’t see you there! I expected at least a hello!
Campaign season is well underway for Burchette 2014! Nice new Carter Elementary, rather fat and robust school budget, exactly what they requested, divorce is well behind him, New Sentinel can’t touch him, movers and shakers attached to Pilot Oil are, uh, err, somewhat distracted right now.
Go Timmy Go!
Does that check say $15 million?
Tina I am sorry. I thought I saw you during the speeches and then didn’t see you when I got in the building.
Sandy, good question. I didn’t pay close attention. But it appears on my picture $13.8 million. I need to do a better job paying attention. I couldn’t believe that Burchett had evolved into the big check presentation style. I thought that was so 1990.
