This story from the Roane County News details that the state jail inspector visited the Roane County Jail recently and just as the visit in May. It did not go well. The main issue is too many inmates and not enough space in the facility that Roane County opened four years ago.
Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton has and continues to do a phenomenal job in locking up the bad boys (and girls) and he deserves support from the County Commission.
Just last year when I was meeting with the Sheriff he informed me that the biggest issue facing Roane County is the abuse, distribution and black market of prescription drugs. Roane County has cracked down and ran a few of the prescribers out of the county and is getting the others behind bars.
Don’t tie Sheriff Stockton’s hands now!
