Center City Conservatives Republican Club Met Tonight

Tonight the Center City Republican Club met, State Representative Steve Hall before the meeting started spoke to the issue that was discussed last month about Elected Superintendents. He said that he spoke with Rep. Harry Brooks and that Brooks had carried an elected superintendent bill two or three times and it never went anywhere. Apparently all the folks from the Cumberland Plateau west want appointed Superintendents.

First, Callie Archer with the Junior Achievement of East TN spoke about the different programs that Junior Achievement offers for students k-12. The club gave Junior Achievment $250

Then officials and candidates were introduced.

Knox County Republican Chair informed the club that she had met with the county wide elected officials and that on October 29 she would have a meeting with the precinct chairs and hoped to have members of the state legislature there.

Joy McCroskey announced that she would be a candidate for reelection to the position of Knox County Criminal Court Clerk.

Terry Hill, retired schools social worker for 30 years will be a candidate for Knox County School Board Sixth District. This is the seat currently held by Thomas Deakins who has indicated he will not be a candidate. The seat was redistricted and Deakins home was placed in the Fifth District. He would have to move in order to be a candidate.

State Rep. Steve Hall was present. Buddy Burkhardt, First Vice Chair of the Knox County Republican Party was present. Bo Bennett, candidate for Knox County Commission Seventh District is the Club President and was present.

Ray Meade, Vice President of the Knox County Republicans, Vice President of the TN Young Republican Federation, Vice Chair of the West Knox Republican Club gave an informative talk on the restructure of the non existent former Knox County Young Republican Club.
