Meet THE Teacher’s Hero! If You Must Be Alone, Be The Best ONE!

One of my cousins (ok, the best cousin) asked if I had watched the video from the October 2, 2013 School Board Meeting. I had not. After watching this teacher taking a stand, I knew that it had to be posted here. It only takes one and if it is the best and most effective voice, then I too will stand with her.

The identity and school location of this teacher has been edited from the youtube video, rightfully so. Although the Board and Superintendent knows who she is and where she is, she should be applauded by EVERYONE for doing something.

One of the interesting notes from her speech. Is that she and the faculty asked the board member that represents their school to come and hear their concerns. The board member shows up with cookies and doesn’t hear their concerns. Folks, that is what you do to your pet dog. You give him or her a biscuit and pat the dog on it’s head. That is not the role of the 9 elected school board members.

There are five board members up for re-election in 2014.

First District and Board Vice Chair Gloria Deathridge
Fourth District and Board Chair Lynn Fugate
Sixth District Thomas Deakins*
Seventh District Kim Sepesi Severance
Ninth District Pam Trainor

*Deakins resides in the Fifth District now. He committed to abide by the Knox County voters approval of term limits. He completes a second term and will not seek election. The same thing can not be said for term limit violators Karen Carson and Indya Kincannon. Thank you to Mr. Deakins for being a MAN of YOUR WORD.

That took a lot of courage.

The superintendent doesn’t need a PR department, he’s always had the Board of Education and Carson, Kincannon, Fugate, etc. I’veheard public disapproval is so high against them, they’re all likely to have opposition.

    Time to clean house.
