Incumbent Seventh District School Board member Kim Sepesi Severance hasn’t picked up a petition to run for re-election. Yesterday Georgiana Vines had County Commissioner Robert Lawrence Smith saying that he asked Sepesi Severance if she would like to be on County Commission.
Apparently, all of that has produced some new attention. I received a rumor this morning that First Vice Chairman of the Knox County Republican Party Buddy Burkhardt is being asked, begged to run for the position.
Burkhardt an IT guy with the Knox County Sheriffs Department could bring several different perspectives to the School Board. He would be the resident IT board member, bring a security perspective from his work with KCSO and he would meet and represent the teachers, faculty and staff. Especially at Halls Elementary School.
