I just discovered that Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett has submitted a nomination for the Knox County Commission to appoint one George A. Bove to the Board of the Lenoir City Utilities Board.

I believe the previous appointee was successful Knoxville businesswoman Pat Beasley. I understand she was the only female on the LCUB Board. Well not only has Mayor Burchett nominated a man eliminating diversity. But he has appointed George A. Bove the Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Is Burchett trying to bring a unionized LCUB work force to LCUB rate payers like me like KUB has? Is Mayor Burchett’s appointment a move to have KUB take over LCUB service area? Is Burchett appointing Bove a move to solidify his position with the AFL-CIO which includes the IBEW in an attempt to run for state wide elective office in 2-4 years?
This appointment is NOT the action of a Conservative Mayor. This is NOT the Tim Burchett that I have known for 20 plus years.
