In talking with some Knox County Commissioners since this posting about Mayor Burchett appointing George Bove, a labor union organizer with the IBEW 760 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) to the Lenoir City Utility Board. The Commissioners believed that like Hallsdale Powell Utility Board, that utility gives Mayor Burchett three names to select one.
This afternoon, I talked with Shannon Littleton, the General Manager of LCUB. That is not the process for the two LCUB appointments of Knox County to the LCUB Board. When an appointment is made, the Knox County Mayor simply picks an appointee and sends the name to the Lenoir City Council and they approve it.
Knox County has two appointees on the 8 member LCUB Board. Mayor Burchett kicked the only female off the LCUB Board in ousting Knoxville Business Executive Pat Beasley and replacing her with George Bove. I have been told that Burchett has been a guest of the IBEW at numerous social event occasions of the Union. I will have to research that rumor, which at this moment is not proven.
Knox County’s other board member is Former Farragut Alderman Joel Garber.
Last evening and this afternoon, I have sought a statement from Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and he has failed to be responsive. What has happened to the one time self proclaimed Conservative Timothy Floyd Burchett?
