This evening the Sevier County Republican Party met and had TN Young Republican leader Ray Meade speak. Meade discussed how if the party does not embrace the younger generation and begin preparing them and putting them out front then the party will ultimately lack a backbone. As the Republican Party ages and doesn’t embrace the younger generation it will further hinder the parties ultimate growth.
You look at Weston Wamp for example, the morning he announced his candidacy. Both the spokesman and campaign strategist for Chuck Fleischmann, Wamp’s opponent immediately denounced his youthful age. Meade did not shy away from pointing out the years of service and establishment support of Congressman Phil Roe, Congressman Jimmy Duncan and Fleischmann.
Before he spoke, a couple of people asked Meade to talk about Knox County and differences that he has seen from his travels around the state. He made reference to the Current Republican Chair suing a Former Republican Chair over content on the blog. About how a State Senator has filed a police report on a former campaign worker.
Meade was warmly received and has already been asked to come back for future meetings. He encouraged the folks present tonight to begin blogs and talk about East TN.
Oh how nice. I wonder how he liked being with those rednecks it may be where he belongs!
