Moran Takes the Helm of Insurors of Tennessee

Lou Moran III, President of Inter-Agency Insurance Service in Knoxville, is currently serving as the President of the Insurors of Tennessee. Moran took office January 1, 2014, and will serve a one-year term.

The Insurors of Tennessee is a professional association of independent insurance agents, and is the state arm of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA), also known as Trusted Choice. The state association represents almost 500 agencies and over 3700 licensed producers from across Tennessee. Based in Nashville, the Insurors of Tennessee supports their agencies through lobbying efforts, providing a continuing education source for agents and offering insurance products that fill agency needs.

Moran grew up in Knoxville, attending the Webb School of Knoxville and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 1985, he began working at Inter-Agency Insurance, which was founded by his father, Lou Moran II. Early in his insurance career, he attended several industry schools, and he earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1996.

Through his career, Moran has served on multiple Insurors of Tennessee committees, as well as serving as a Board member in 1996 and again from 2002-2004, serving as President of the Insurors of Knoxville local board in 1996, being named Young Insuror of the Year in 1994 and Insuror of the Year in 2006. He returned to the Executive Board in 2012 to rotate in as President, beginning as Vice-President of Region III then President-Elect.

He has been active in the Knoxville community throughout his life, beginning with serving on the Knoxville Teen Board in high school. In his adult life, he has served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Stage Company, RiverFest BBQ Contest, ArtFest, Leadership Children’s Hospital, Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, ChildHelp Tennessee and Webb Alumni Council, among others. He continues to be active locally supporting activities of his daughter, Emily, a high school senior, and his son, Lou IV, a high school sophomore.

He enjoys the daily interactions and carrying on the family business, as he continues to work with his mother and father, Patti and Lou Moran, and his wife, Mimi, at their office on Baum Drive, in the Bearden area.
