The first time I ever traveled down Ebenezer Road, back in the late 1980’s it was a two lane crooked farm land road that started at Kingston Pike next to Lange Package Store and meandered through to a state route road called Northshore Drive. When you travel at night and got to Bluegrass School at Ebenezer and Bluegrass Road it would light up because of the Weigel’s store. The family and I moved into Bluegrass in 1999, couldn’t think of a better place to have raised a family and continue to live.
Today, with a five lane Ebenezer that connects to Peters Road, our Weigel’s closed. Of course, the one built a few years ago just down Ebenezer and Northshore is there, the one at Westland and Pellissippi is available. The one at Hart Road and Northshore is there and before too long our new one at Ebenezer and Westland will be having a grand opening.
But tonight, Bluegrass community goes dark. Bluegrass is the best little community to call home. We got rich folk, we got blue collar folk, we got all kinds of folk and best of all, we all get along with each other. But tonight, we say thanks for the milk, the beer, the ice and a place to meet our neighbor and say hey.
