Financial Disclosures were due last Thursday at NOON. I have examined several. In the 9th School Board District race, Candidate Amber Rountree has some interesting revelations that have generated some interesting questions.
First, Rountree and her Treasurer Lauren Hopson disclose $2,133.06 in contributions. Of those contributions, $100 came from Jacksonville, FL; $300 came from Knox County’s 7th School Board District; $100 came from the 2nd Knox County School Board District a $250 contribution came from 4th Knox County School Board District; a $150 contribution from zip code 37928 which I believe is in the 2nd Knox County School Board District.
In addition to the $2,133.06, Rountree has received $3,232.96 in in-kind contributions. One contributor gave printing and postage in the amount of $1,267.76 from an 8th district Knox County School Board citizen and another $1,265.20 from a 1st District Knox County School Board citizen. Both contributors are employed by SPM, Inc. An additional $200 in-kind contribution for graphic design from a contributor that resides in the 2nd Knox County School Board District. The only contribution from the Ninth School Board District Rountree hopes to represent is from Restaurateur Entrepreneur Sam Tobea. Tobea owns The Round Up where Rountree held her campaign kick-off, Tobea contributed $500 in food to the Rountree campaign.
In addition, Rountree spent $213.53 in printing in Seymour, TN (which is located in Sevier County) Additionally, her website hosting for $113.38 is from Orem, UT.
Also, of interest is this Metro Pulse Daily Blog Post from Saturday April 12, 2014 about a South Knoxville citizen that was upset over advertisements on the cover of a weekly throw away paper. The citizen took it upon herself to throw them away (which we at BrianHornback.Com would advise against) Due to any potential lawsuit that could be filed against you. Goodness knows we at BrianHornback.Com are well aware of having to defend ones self from a frivolous lawsuit. No where on Rountree’s most recent financial disclosure is there any expenditures or in kind contributions for newspaper advertisements. Maybe that is what the remaining $1,813.50 in her account is for or maybe additional in-kind contributions will be reported on the advertisements on a future financial disclosure. With 95% of all expenditures of a political nature, vendors and advertisers require payment in advance, due to primarily to so many politicians not paying their bills after a campaign.
Speaking of advertising, let’s take this commercial break for an advertisement from BrianHornback.Com
