Back on April 20, 2014 we informed you here of a decision by Knox County Schools to forbid a town hall meeting at Farragut High School after school hours. The issue seemed then and after this story in today’s Big Metal Shed on the Hill product that free speech is not allowed if individuals and groups can convince someone ie. Superintendemt that it is bad. Like portray the speakers as hate mongers or as in this case islamphobia spin masters. Had the Big Metal Shed simply written the story, with both views it would have been viewed as “giving people the light to find their way.” But instead, the writer and editors that approved the story, have more dissenters than organizers of the event. Secondly, they waited until after the town hall was held at a different venue on the same day to allow their readers to potentially attend. Thirdly, they identity one of the speakers by his name and not the name he goes by and is known around the country.
Three photographs accompany the story online. All three are Muslims practicing their religion. Not one photograph of the organizers or speakers of the town hall.
In order to provide balance here and here are links to Dr. Warner’s sites and here to Matt Bonner’s The Crescent Project site.
Interesting that the picture of the Muslim group in prayer was from April 25 the day after the town hall in Farragut. It is now May 5, so this story has been in the works at the Big Metal Shed for a while, Coincidence?
