Kincannon Leaving School Board, Will County Commission Fill the Position?

WATE has the Breaking News less than 10 minutes ago that Indya Kincannon half way through her third term will step down after the August 6 election. The report in its entirety reads

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knox County Board of Education member Indya Kincannon says she is stepping down after the August 6 meeting to travel to Slovenia.

School district spokesperson Melissa Ogden says Kincannon’s husband Ben Barton was recently awarded a Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant in Slovenia.

Kincannon, currently in her third term, has served Knox County’s second district since 2004. Barton currently works for the University of Tennessee College of Law.

Knox County Commission should have the power to appoint the successor depending on what mood Knox County Law Department Assistant David Buuck is in when Commission asks for direction.

Could be interesting. I would say grab some popcorn and drink, but with Buuck and crew it’s sure to be a flop of a theatrical debut.
