PSA (Public Service Announcement) Don’t Fall For It

Yesterday morning (7-23-2014) as I was leaving the house for work, the house (land line, we still got one) phone rang, caller id read 000-000-0000 I answered it. (which is rare) I was thinking it was actually an entity that I intended to talk to later in the day anyway and could kill two birds one stone.

I said hello, this guy says uh yes, I am with the Windows Help Desk, we have detected that something downloaded on your computer that was downloaded not by your or with your permission. I asked what country are you calling from? He said what country are you from? I said well, you should know because you called me. He said I am from this country and I asked which country. The line became disconnected. I guess they got another download that was worse than mine.

Here’s the deal people, don’t fall for it. He is going to want to get access to your computer through a website by having you go into a view or share website. He will take over your computer, then you won’t have access until you pay a bunch of money.

Now, I am gonna answer all calls to my land line with caller id, 000-000-0000 just so I can start screwing with these people mentally. Like telling them to log into my website, etc. etc.

Be careful out there, don’t get taken.
