On May 2, 2010 in the Republican Primary, Burchett received 29,716 of the 34,903 votes cast for County Mayor. On August 5, 2010 in the County General Election Burchett received 53,381 of the 60,456 votes cast amongst the four candidates for County Mayor.
On May 6, 2014 among Republican voters Burchett received 20,539 votes or 9,177 less votes than he received in the 2010 primary and 14,364 votes less than the total Republican Primary votes cast for County Mayor on May 2, 2010. There were numerous write in votes, including a large number for his first wife, Allison Burchett. On August 7, 2014 Burchett received 48,062 votes or 5,319 less votes than he received on August 5, 2010 and 12,394 less than the total votes cast for County Mayor received amongst the four candidates on August 5, 2010.

As a four year incumbent County Mayor most political pundits and gadfly’s believe he has more name recognition and should have garnered more votes than any of the winners and their challengers named above. These numbers would indicate that the County Mayor is not as loved by all groups of voters and citizens as he boasts and apparently believes that he is.
