Today’s Daily Paper Column by former Mayor Ashe

Today’s weekly column by former Mayor Ashe in the daily paper has a political consultant criticizing a local Republican Club President and former failed State Rep candidate.

The criticism which was activity in support of the Republican Primary challenger to Republican Garrett Holt, in the March 5 Republican Primary for Knox County Commission, Fourth District.

March 5, 2024 Republican Primary

Garrett Holt 4,224 votes

Liz Tombras 1,947 votes

705 under votes

Undervote as defined by Ballotpedia here, an undervote occurs when the number of choices selected by a voter in an election is less then the maximum number allowed for that election. An undervote also occurs when no vote is cast for a single-choice election.

August 1, 2024 General Election

Republican Garrett Holt 5,231 votes

Democrat Shane Jackson 5,405 votes

86 undervotes (619 less undervotes than March Primary)

while I choose not to name some people, not giving them what they want, attention and press.

While I do believe the local County Party leadership should consider the over the top criticism of Holt in the Primary. The criticism was not over policy, but personality.
